Girls Varsity Softball vs. Columbia Central HS School

Game Date
May 11, 2022

Game 1: 8-5 (win)

Clinton played at Columbia Central for 2 close wins in LCAA play.  The Redwolves were happy to have Kendall Phillip back in their line up, as she came to play.

Phillip started the game in the circle, going 2 innings, allowing 0 hits, 0 ER, with all six put outs in K’s.  Due to her injury, Taryn Hernandez came in relief in the 3rd and finished the game, allowing 5 hits, with just one earned run and 9 k’s.

Offense was quiet for Clinton, but thankful for Phillip’s bat back… she was 3-5 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI… Emma Fair was 3-3 with an RBI. Hernandez was 2-4 with an RBI.  Raven Aldridge was 2-4 and Noelle Riley added an RBI single.

Game 2: 4-3

Game 2 was a little too close for comfort, with the Redwolves down 3-2 in the 6th inning.

Sydney Schuler was the starter in the circle, going 3.1 innings, allowing 3 hits, 2 ER, with 2 strikeouts.  Kendall Phillip came back in the circle, grabbing herself the win despite CC taking the lead in the 5th on a base hit to right field. Phillip allowed just 1 hit with 5 K’s, 1 walk, and 0 ER… Clinton took the lead in the bottom of the 6th, so Clinton put Hernandez back on the mound to finish the last inning. She had 2 total strikeouts… but only one came before an error that out on the tying run for CC.  Ava Ormsby took care of the out as they tried to steal 3rd. The final out came with the final strikeout of the game.

Offense once again was led by Phillip, going 2-3 with her 3rd double of the night, 1 RBI and 1 stolen base.  Raven Aldridge was the only other multiple hitter, going 2-2 with a double and a stolen base.  Kyleigh Ramos and Noelle Riley were Clinton’s only other hits.

Clinton is 7-0 in LCAA and 14-3 overall as they prepare for the Chelsea Invitational this Saturday.
