The Varsity Football Team hosted Ecorse for the MHSAA District Championships on Friday, Nov. 4th and came away with its school record third straight District Title. Clinton defeated Ecorse 52-8 on the night. Clinton compiled over 300 yards of total offense after rushing for 298 yards and passing for 35 more yards. Clinton scored twice in the first quarter of a 17 yard run by Bradyn Lehman and a two point conversion by Lehman made it 8-0 to start the game. Lehman scored again from 1 yard out and Zak Shadley pushed the two point conversion across the goal line to make it 16-0 at the end of the first quarter. Clinton exploded for 30 points in the second quarter to pull away. Zak Shadley scored on a 6 yard run and his brother Nik Shadley converted the two point play to make it 24-0 Clinton. Nik Shadley found pay dirt again on a 5 yard rush for a touchdown, with Jake Felts pushing in the two point conversion, making the score 32-0 Clinton. Cole Breitenwischer scored on a 20 yard run and Nate Smith caught a two point conversion pass from Coy Perry. Clinton 40-0. And before halftime Coy Perry threw a 7 yard touchdown pass to Nik Shadley to make it 46-0 going into half.
Coming out of halftime the MHSAA rule of a running clock was upheld for the entire second half. In the third quarter Ecorse was able to score and put a two point conversion in to make it 46-8 Clinton in the third quarter. Clinton scored once more on the night off a 14 yard run by Cole Breitenwischer to make it Clinton 52 Ecorse 8.
Bradyn Lehman led all rushers with 106 yards on 6 carries and two touchdowns. Zak Shadley had 80 yards on 6 carries and a touchdown. Jake Felts had 44 yards on 6 carries. Cole Breitenwischer had 41 yards on 3 carries and two touchdowns. Nik Shadley had 7 yards on 2 carries and one touchdown. Joey Preston had 7 yards on 2 carries, Connor Younts had 6 yards on one carry, Bryce Randolph had 4 yards on 2 carries, Braylon Long 1 carry for 3 yards, Macray Connors and Brenden Benschoter each had carries as well. Colt Perry was able to hand the ball off to his older brother Coy for a carry and some yards as well for a special moment. Andy Fair was 1 for 4 for 28 yards through the air and Coy Perry was 1 for 1 for 7 yards and a touchdown. Max Stitt caught one pass for 28 yards and Nik Shadley caught one pass for 7 yards and a touchdown. Pancake blocks on offense were made by Max Stitt and Nate Smith with two apiece. Jake Felts, Wyatt Hicks, Nate Page, and Brandon Felts all had one pancake block apiece. Defensively Clinton was able to contain the Ecorse offense on the night. Max Stitt had a big night collecting 4 tackles, 4 tackles for a loss, 3 sacks, 1 pass break up, and caused a fumble. Others with tackles for losses on the night were Wyatt Hicks with two, Bradyn Lehman, Nate Smith, and Jake Felts all with one apiece. Nate Smith had a fumble recovery and Bradyn Lehman had an interception that he returned to the 10 yard line. Other pass break ups were made by Nik Shadley, Maurice Ames, and Jake Felts with one apiece. Jake Felts had 9 tackles on the night, Bradyn Lehman had 6, and Zak Shadley had 7.
Offensive Player of the game was Bradyn Lehman with over 100 yards rushing two touchdowns and a two point conversion. Defensive Player of the game was Max Stitt for his pressure all night on defense. Special Teams Player of the Game was Wyatt Federer for several tackles on kickoff team. The Red Army Player of the Week was Bryce Rosacrans for stepping in on both offense and defense and doing a great job for us.
