MICHIGAN COLLEGIATE HIGH SCHOOL: 30

On Friday, November 11th the varsity football defeated Warren Michigan Collegiate in dramatic fashion 31-30 to win the MHSAA Regional Championship.   The game did not start out like the Redwolves had hoped after getting stopped on their first drive and WMC driving down and scoring a touchdown and two point conversion to make it 8-0.  Clinton then began to drive the ball down the field but a fumble by the Redwolves was scooped up and returned for a touchdown.  The Redwolves found themselves down 0-16 right away.  The Redwolves started driving and put one in the endzone on a Cole Breitenwischer 1 yard touchdown run.  The two point conversion failed.  Going into halftime Clinton was down 6-16.  Clinton seemed to have WMC bottled up but they were able to find a crease and ripped off a big play for a 56 yard touchdown on 3rd and long.  They again scored their two point conversion.  Clinton was down 6-24 until Bradyn Lehman punched one in the endzone for a 1 yard touchdown.  Clinton 12 WMC 24 going into the fourth quarter.  In the fourth quarter Clinton continued its come back as Bradyn Lehman caught a 19 yard touchdown pass from Andy Fair to make the score Clinton 18 WMC 24.  Once again Clinton seemed to have WMC bottled up, but they again hit a big run play for a 65 yard touchdown to make it 30-18.  Clinton continued to manage the clock and hit big play after big play on both sides of the ball.  Nik Shadley caught a 20 yard touchdown pass from Andy Fair to make the score Clinton 24 WMC 30.  Clinton decided to go for the extra point kick and Bradyn Lehman delivered and cut the score to Clinton 25 WMC 30.  That kick proved to be much more that just an extra point kick, it ended up being the game winning difference.  But Clinton needed to continue to stop WMC on defense and came up with several 3 play and outs to help get the offense the ball back from one more score.  This time after several big pass plays, Bradyn Lehman pushed the ball across on a 5 yard touchdown run that put Clinton up with just over a minute in the game, 31-30.  What a come back, our kids never quit and the fight they showed was inspiring.  Nik Shadley had one of the biggest plays of the game as WMC was driving and in the red zone, he ripped the football loose and recovered the fumble to swing the momentum even further in Clinton's favor.

Clinton had 169 yards rushing and 245 yards passing for over 400 yards of offense.  Bradyn Lehman was the leading rusher with 70 yards on 15 carries and two touchdowns.  Lehman also hauled in 6 passes for 100 yards and a touchdown.  Nik Shadley had several carries on offense, but grabbed 5 catches for 113 yards and one touchdown.  Jake Felts had 39 yards on 9 carries, he also hauled in a pass for 21 yards.  Zak Shadley had 5 carries for 22 yards, Joey Preston had 4 carries for 15 yards, Cole Breitenwischer had 3 carries for 12 yards and one touchdown.  Andy Fair had 3 carries for 8 yards.  Max Stitt had one reception for 11 yards.  Andy Fair was 13 for 22 passing for 245 yards on the night.  The offensive line picked up some pancake blocks throughout the night and Brandon Felts was the leader with 5, Jacob Gilson and Joey Preston each had one a piece, and Wyatt Hicks had two.
