Clinton had a happy bus ride home Wednesday after sweeping a Tri-County Conference doubleheader against Madison, 19-9 and 3-0.

Clinton banged out 14 hits in the opener as leadoff batter Dylan Settles had three hits and scored four runs. Collin Stapnowski went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Luke Olsen had two hits and four RBIs and Tommy Burt also had four RBIs. Derek Tomalak stole three bases and scored four runs. Clinton scored 11 runs in the fourth inning to come back from a 9-5 deficit.

Jack Voll, Eric Briggs and Nathan Darm split the pitching duties for Clinton with Briggs getting the win after going 2 2/3 innings while allowing two hits and one run.

Madison’s Nate Garcia had three hits and scored twice while Chris Hamann had three RBIs, Robert Gauna went 2-for-3 with an RBI, Collin Schmitz drove in two and Javier Salazar had a single and a double.

Madison had four singles in the nightcap off Clinton starter Derek Tomalak, who struck out three and didn’t allow a run.

Clinton had five hits, including a double by Tommy Burt. Jared Lancaster had two RBIs.
