On Friday, Nov. 12th the varsity football team hosted Michigan Center in the MHSAA Regional Championship Game.  Michigan Center won 27-14 over the Redwolves and will advance to the Final Four.  The Redwolves end their season with a 9-3 record and a District Championship.  The game was a battle from the start as the Redwolves kicked off and forced a 3 and out on defense to start the game.  On the Redwolves first drive they drove the ball down to the four yard line and kicked a 23 yard field goal to make it Clinton 3 MC 0.  On Michigan Centers second drive they were able to get two first downs, but were forced to punt again.  Clinton put together four first downs before they turned it over on downs to the Cardinals. Michigan Center was able to get one first down before Clinton's defense again forced a punt.  Clinton offense took over and received a holding penalty on first down that put them in a hole to start the possession.   Clinton eventually punted the ball away.  Michigan Center then put together three first downs before they found the endzone.  The score was Michigan Center 7 Clinton 3 going into halftime.

Coming out of halftime Clinton received the ball and marched down the field as another holding penalty set the Redwolves back.  But Clinton continued to gain ground and completed a 12 yard pass from Tomalak to Lehman on 4th and 7 to keep the drive alive.  Clinton drove all the way to the 1 yard line on 4th down and unfortunately had a false start and were forced to kick another field goal.  This was Jonathan Baughey's second field goal of the night to make the score Clinton 6 Michigan Center 7.

Michigan Center hauled in a huge 56 yard pass for a touchdown, but Clinton's Zak Shadley blocked the P.A.T. attempt.  Clinton 6 Michigan Center 13.  Clinton received another penalty on offense and were forced to punt.  Clinton shut Michigan Center down and took back over.  This time the Redwolves were moving the ball down the field collecting several first downs, which ended with a 6 yards touchdown run by Nik Shadley.  Down by one Clinton decided to go for two and Bradyn Lehman marched it in to make the score Clinton 14 Michigan Center 13.  But on the kickoff Michigan Center took it 82 yards for a touchdown to put them up 19-14.  Clinton was not able to get anything going and was forced to turn it over on downs and Michigan Center with good field position put another one across the goal line to make the final score Michigan Center 27 Clinton 14.

Clinton out rushed Michigan Center 240 yards to their 122 yards.   Clinton also had more passing yards that Michigan Center as well, 118 passing yards to their 103 yards.  Overall Clinton offense had 362 yards to Michigan Center 225 yards.  Overall leaders on the night were Bradyn Lehman with 21 carries for 123 yards, 5 receptions for 48 yards and a 2 pt. conversion.  Joey Preston had 13 carries for 46 yards.  Nik Shadley had 10 carries for 43 yards and a touchdown, with two receptions for 39 yards.  Derek Tomalak had 4 carries for 32 yards and was 9 for 13 passing for 118 yards.  Jacob Felts had a reception for 23 yards and Kent McCombs hauled in a pass for 8 yards as well.  Baughey was 2 for 2 in field goal attempts.  As this season comes to an end we have to look back and be proud of what was accomplished as a program.  This loss hurts and we have to learn and grow from it as a program.  But there were many things to celebrate as the program qualified for the 10th straight year for the playoffs, won back to back district titles for the first time in school history and did this all after replacing 16 graduated seniors from the year before.  The kids did a great job this year of learning new concepts and coming together as a team.  The staff did an excellent job all year as well.  We will be announcing when our banquet will be shortly.  But definitely a season of significance and many memories were made. Thank you seniors for all you gave to and for the program.
