The Clinton Redskin JV boys basketball team was able to pull away from a feisty Quincy team on Wednesday evening to earn their first non-conference win of the season.  The 54-42 win improved the Redskin's record to 11-5 overall while remaining 10-2 in TCC play.  In the three previous non conference games, the Redskin's had opportunities to win each, but had come up just short.  This win removed the monkey from their backs, but it was not an easy task.

Clinton led from start to finish, but struggled to get any separation from the Orioles, who showed a lot of determination to hang around and keep the game close.  As Quincy sat in a 2-3 zone for the majority of the game, the Redskins struggled to find their rhythm on the offensive end. 

Clinton had the advantage in all four quarters, but only had a four point lead heading into the fourth quarter.  That is when the Redskins found their rhythm, and went on an 18-2 run from the end of the third quarter until the 3 minute mark of the fourth quarter to build their largest lead of the game at 16 points.  Quincy made two threes in the final minute, including one at the buzzer to close the gap to 12, but the damage had already been done.

Eric Briggs and Gavin Scott each paced the Redskins with 11 points.  Davey Campbell filled the stat sheet with 8 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists.  Tommy Burt also added 8 points to go with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.  Jacob Huddleston finished with 7 points to go along with his team high 11 rebounds.  Makai Cruz also added 7 points on the night, while Zach Kovach made a basket to score 2 points for the game and round out the Redskin offense.

Clinton will be back in action tomorrow, Thursday, February 14th, as they travel to Deerfield for a TCC game with the Patriots.  The JV game will start at 5:30PM, with the varsity game to follow at 7:00PM.
