Clinton Wrestling Earns Academic All State
For the ninth consecutive year the Clinton Varsity Wrestling Team has earned academic all state as a team with a cumulative 3.8 G.P.A. This was good for the second highest G.P.A. in the state for division three wrestling teams. Clinton also set a program record with 7 academic all state individuals this year. To qualify for individual academic all state an individual must have a minimum 3.5 cumulative G.P.A. as well as sophomore and juniors must have qualified for the state championship during the year. Freshmen are not eligible for academic all state honors. For seniors they have to have qualified for the state championships at least once during their career. Seniors Kent McCombs and Taylor Randolph both earned academic all state. Kent finished as a 4 time all state athlete in wrestling, all state in football, and now academic all state. Taylor finished as a 3 time all state athlete and state champion, now academic all state. Juniors Leanne Mercier, Connor Busz, and Zak Shadley all earned academic all state this year. Sophomores Connor Younts and Jayden Rozsa both earned academic all state this year as well.
The LCAA honored their scholar athletes as well and Clinton Wrestling had 11 honorees. Kent McCombs, Taylor Randolph, Ethan Younts, Connor Busz, Zak Shadley, Leanne Mercier, Wyatt Federer, Jayden Rozsa, Nate Arntz, Nik Shadley, and Connor Younts. Congratulations to everyone earning academic excellence as this is a core value of our program.
