CLINTON — Clinton volleyball made the most of its home-court advantage at LCAA Pool Play #1, rolling to a perfect 4-0 record and an impressive 8-0 mark in sets against Ida, Hudson, Madison and Hillsdale. Clinton opened pool play with a battle against Madison in its closest match of the day, winning 25-12, 29-27, then had a dominant 25-14, 25-8 victory over Hillsdale. Clinton then battled a tough Ida team winning 25-23 and 25-18 before beating Hudson 25-10 and 25-12 in the final match of the night. Offense Leads the Way Across the four matches, Clinton finished with 118 kills on 266 attacks, hitting an outstanding .316 as a team. The attack was led by a number of contributors, Bella Bannon led the way with 35 kills while Addison Loftis recorded 26 kills, Abby Sheneman had 24 kills and hit a .400. Avery Loftis contributed 14 kills, and Rylee Pepper finished with 12 kills. Joslyn Kranz had 8 kills while Makenna Gore had 9 on the day. The Wolves offensive success was also fueled by strong setting. Clinton recorded 111 assists with Avery Loftis leading the way with 54 assists and Addison Loftis adding 46. That two-setter production gave Clinton a consistent offensive attack throughout the day and allowed The Pack to spread the ball around. Defense Keeps Clinton Rolling Clinton also showed its strength defensively, recording 181 digs during pool play. Lila Kennedy led the way with 30 digs, Addison Loftis had 28 digs, Rylee Pepper also collected 30, Callie Kruger had 24 digs, and Zoey Riddle had 16 digs. All the defensive plays allowed Clinton to extend rallies and turn defensive plays into offensive opportunities. Serve receive had its moments but the team passed a 2.1 overall with Avery and Addison both passing at 2.4 and Zoey passing a 2.1 on the night. At the net, Clinton recorded 9 solo blocks and 16 block assists, providing another important piece of the team's 4-0 performance. Strong Serving Creates Pressure The Redwolves were particularly effective from the service line, finishing with 25 aces and a 91% serving percentage. Avery Loftis was a standout in that department, producing nine aces without a service error and had 28 points. Addison Loftis added four aces, while Rylee Pepper contributed five. That pressure from the service line helped Clinton establish early leads and maintain momentum throughout the pool play. A Day of Consistency Perhaps the most impressive part of Clinton's performance was its consistency. The Redwolves never dropped a set and won three of their four matches by comfortable margins. Even when Madison pushed Clinton in the second set, The Pack responded by closing out a 29-27 thriller. Clinton's final team totals tell the story: 118 kills, 111 assists, 181 digs, 25 aces and 25 total service aces, while hitting .316 as a team. With a balanced attack, aggressive serving and a defense capable of extending rallies, Clinton left its home pool with plenty of momentum. Clinton finishes LCAA Pool Play #1 at 4-0 and 8-0 in sets and will be on the road next Tuesday, September 8th against Dundee. JV will start at 5 pm with Varsity to follow starting about 7 pm.
