The varsity football team traveled to Blissfield for their first road game and first LCAA game of the year. Blissfield was coming off a big win and played hard the entire game, but Clinton emerged with the 44-6 win. In the first quarter Braxton Randolph found the endzone from five yard out for the first touchdown of the night. Bronson Whelan followed that up with the two point conversion run. Clinton was up 8-0. Then Bronson Whelan caught a 37 yard touchdown pass from Gradyn Whelan for a touchdown. But the conversion was no good. Clinton was up 14-0 entering the second quarter. Opening the second quarter it was Gradyn Whelan to Bronson Whelan again, this time for a 44 yard touchdown pass and catch. Braxton Randolph punched in the two point conversion. Clinton 22 Blissfield 0. Blissfield put together a drive of their own that capped off with a 12 yard pass for a touchdown. Clinton was not done yet as they marched down the field managing the clock with Jake Halchishak punching in a touchdown from one yard out. Then Jacob Pope caught a pass for the two point conversion from Gradyn Whelan. Going into halftime Clinton was up 30-6. In the third quarter Clinton saw yet another connection between Bronson and Gradyn Whelan, this time for a 35 yard touchdown. Jaxen Speth converted the extra point kick to make it Clinton 37 Blissfield 6. The last score of the game was on a 41 yard run by Braxton Randolph for a touchdown and Jaxen Speth converted another extra point kick to finish with Clinton 44 Blissfield 6. Leading rusher was Braxton Randolph with 115 yard on 10 attempts and two touchdowns and a two point conversion. Gradyn Whelan had 43 yards rushing on 5 attempts, to go along with 7 of 14 passing for 168 yards and three touchdowns and a two point conversion. Bronson Whelan had 6 catches for 154 yards and 3 touchdowns on the night. Brayden Lauer had 6 yards on two attempts, Jake Halchishak, Aiden Hall, and Brady Alhers all had rushing attempts on the night. Jake Halchishak also caught a pass for 14 yards and ran in one for a touchdown. Pancake blocks were from Owen Wright with two. Jake Halchishak, Roman Roberts, Brody Wenn, Grant Talaga, and Royce Martinez all had one apiece. On defense Braxton Randolph was the leading tackler with 6.5 and two tackles for a loss. Noah Jenkins had 4.5 tackles and an interception. Bronson Whelan had four tackles, Royce Martinez had 3, Jake Halchishak had 3.5, Owen Wright had 3 tackles and two for a loss, Brody Wenn had 3, while Aiden Simpson, Jonah Hahn, Jaxon Phillip, Lucas Coughlin, and Brayden Lauer all had two. Other making tackles were Gradyn Whelan, Zander Urban, Drew Erickson, Brady Alhers, Bowen Fielder, and Jaxen Speth. Brayden Lauer and Grant Talaga were credited with causing a fumble and Cayden Cook recovered a fumble. Offensive Player of the Game was Bronson Whelan. Defensive Player of the Game was Owen Wright. Red Army Player of the Week was Noah Jenkins. Special Teams Player of the Game was Jaxen Speth. The Redwolves travel to Dundee on Friday, Sept. 11th at 7pm to take on the Vikings.
