The Clinton Redwolves traveled to Pinckney on Saturday, September 26th, to take on the Pirates. It was a hard fought game and back and forth in the first half. Brady Ahlers got the scoring started for Clinton on a short run. Pinckney turned around and returned the favor on a long drive and short touchdown run of their own. Ahlers would find the endzone again on the next Redwolves’ drive. It would be the defense that would score next for the Redwolves, as Henry Vershum would intercept the Pirates’ quarterback and return it all the way, with Ahlers tacking on the two point conversion. On the following kick return, Pinckney would hit a seam and take it all the way back to the 5 yard line, where they would punch it in for a score a couple plays later, bringing the half time score to 20 to 14 with Clinton in the lead. After halftime it would be all Clinton, outscoring the Pirates 29 to 0 in the second half. Brayden Lauer would score on the Redwolves first play of the second half on a 63 yard touchdown run, and Ahlers would score on the two point conversion as well. The following drive would end quickly for the Pirates when Cayden Cook recovered a fumble and shortly after Lauer would score again, this time from 21 yards out and Vershum would score the point after. Clinton was not done scoring yet, and would get touchdowns from both Aiden Hall and Grant Talaga on their next two drives. Hall also would be successful on kicking an extra point. The final score from Pinckney would be 49 to 14 with the Redwolves walking away victorious. Great edge play and relentless pursuit from Cayden Cook and Tucker Hessling would help the Clinton JV football team to take home the victory. The team will be back in action on Monday, October 5th, at 6 pm at Wegner Field as the Hudson Tigers come to town.
