Clinton Varsity Softball takes the win in 8 innings against league opponent Ida in their season opener. Clinton dominated the first 6 innings, going into the 7th with an 8-0 lead.  Ida fought back and tied 8-8 before leaving the winning run stranded on 3rd. Clinton scored 3 more in the top of the 8th and held Ida to take the win.  "We will continue to grow and learn from our mistakes."  
 

Sophomore Kendall Phillip led in the circle, throwing 6.1  innings.  She allowed just 2 hits in the first 6 innings, recording 13 strikeouts, and 5 walks.  Freshman Taryn Hernandez came in relief, allowing 2 hits, 2 walks, and 2 strikeouts in 0.2 inning... errors kept her on the mound longer than she needed to be.  Phillip took the last out of the 7th.  Sydney Schuler got the save and recorded win, allowing no hits, one hit batter, and 1 strikeout, catcher Ava Ormsby got the second out of the 8th inning by throwing out an attempted steal. 
 

Offense was led by Freshman Raven Aldridge going 2-4 with an RBI.  Kendall Phillip was 2-5 with a solo homerun in the top of the 7th, and 2 stolen bases.  Ava Ormsby was 2-5 with a double and 3 RBI.  

The second game was called due to darkness, Clinton was up to bat in the bottom of the 4th, leading 4-2.
