On Saturday, October 14, the Redwolves Girls Cross Country team won their first Lenawee County Championship in the history of the program. It was a tight finish that wasn't decided until the 5th runner from Addison crossed the finish line. The women had strong races with Cylee Elkins finishing 6th beating two runners who had beaten her earlier in the year, Allison Bowles finishing 9th, Samantha Coots finishing 11th, Aurelia Bennett continuing her improvement on the year finishing 18th, five spots ahead of predictions made by mixcspeedratings, and Sarah King also finishing five spots ahead of predictions in 25th. In live scoring, Clinton and Tecumseh were tied at 59 until the 5th qualifying runner from the Addison squad crossed the line near the end of the race and included Addison's team in the scoring. The final score was Clinton 61, Tecumseh 63, and Adrian 69. On the slick and muddy course no personal bests were set by the squad, but Elkins, Bowles, Anna Vincent, Jana Hillegonds, and Ryan Handy all had course best times at Gerber Hill.
In the boys race, Clinton finished 2nd of the 12 schools in the field to a very strong Adrian team. Earning medals on the day were Cole Hillegonds who finished 8th, Lucas Goodman in 10th, and Gabe Manchester in 11th. Goodman and Manchester had course best times among the upper classmen as did Eric Ramsey, Reed Patrick, Nic Spicer, and Jack Morgan.
Next Saturday, the teams head to Hudson again for the LCAA Championship meet in an attempt to wrap up their league titles. The girls run at 9AM followed by the boys.
