Varsity Wrestling Shuts Out Hanover Horton

Varsity Wrestling shut out Hanover Horton team, winning 77-0 on Wednesday, Jan. 3rd.  It was a great way to get back to school from break as the wrestlers improved their season record to 13-3.  Braylon Long competed well as he wrestled another returning all state wrestler.  The match started close and was 2-2 after the first period, but Long poured on the offense with five sets of near fall points to earn a technical fall 19-2 over David Fielder at 126 pounds.  Maurice Ames earned a pin at 138 pounds, while Dylan Badge grabbed a 13-7 win at 144 pounds.  Cliff Jones earned a first period pin at 157 pounds.  Landon Lakatos tied the score up in the second period before earning a pin at 175 pounds.  John Keibler competed at 190 pounds and earned a 4-0 win.  And Wyatt Hicks picked up a first period pin at 215 pounds.  Others with wins on the night were:  Nate Arntz at 106, Zach Taylor at 113, Joe Hodges at 120, Connor Younts at 132, Aiden Johnson at 150, Bryce Randolph at 165, and Hamza Rafferty at Heavyweight.  This was senior night and we honored our six seniors and their families.  Thank you to Seniors Faith Blackburn, Nate Arntz, Connor Younts, Maurice Ames, Dylan Badge, and Wyatt Hicks. We also had the pleasure of the Varsity Competitive Cheer Team performing at intermission for a great routine.  The last special guests of the night were our teachers and staff members that showed up for teacher appreciation night as each wrestler chose a teacher or staff member to invite and recognize for the impact they have had on them and many other students.  Thank you to all involved with the night. Teachers and staff that were on hand to be honored were:  Mrs. Gilson, Mr. Staton, Mrs. Allen, Mrs. Kokenakes, Mr. Posa, Mrs. Warwick, Mr. Shaffner, Mr. Hillegonds, Mr. Randolph, Mrs. Bennett, Mrs. Claus, Mr. Claus, Mrs. Gibson, and Mr. Beazley.  Staff that was honored that were unable to attend were:  Mrs. Freeman, Mr. Delezenne, Mr. Davis, Mr. Smither, Mr. George, Mr. Tomalak, and Mr. Ruhl.  Thank you for all you do for students at Clinton.
