Clinton Wrestling Goes 2-0

Clinton Wrestling traveled to Perry High School on Wednesday, Jan. 6th for a tri meet wtih Perry and Laingsburg.  Clinton went 2-0 on the night and improved their record to 15-3 on the year.  Clinton opened the night with Laingsburg and came away with a 59-21 win.  The match started at 113 pounds and freshman Zach Taylor got the team off to a great start with a  first period pin in 49 seconds.  Joe Hodges picked up a win by forfeit at 120 while Braylon Long picked up a 16-0 technical fall at 126 pounds.  Connor Younts grabbed a quick first period pin in just 46 seconds at 132 pounds.  Maurice Ames made it another first period pin at 138 pounds.  Dylan Badge rolled to first period pin at 144 pounds before Austin Putnam dropped his match at 150 pounds.  Cliff Jones earned a third period pin at 157 pounds and Jayden Duplessis dropped his match at 165 pounds.  Bryce Randolph earned a first period pin at 175 pounds and Landon Lakatos fell short at 190 pounds 6-9.  Wyatt Hicks earned a first period pin at 215 pounds, while Hamza Rafferty won by forfeit at heavyweight.  Hudson Miller dropped his match at 106 to make the final score Clinton 59 Laingsburg 21.

In the second match of the night 120 pounds was the starting weight class against host Perry High School.  Freshman Joe Hodges got this started with a first period pin at 120 pounds. Braylon Long took a win by technical fall, 15-0 at 126 pounds.  Freshman Jake Halchishak stepped into the line up at 132 pounds and earned a second period pin for the Redwolves.  Connor Younts wrestled at 138 pounds and picked up the first period pin.  Maurice Ames competed at 144 pounds and earned the fastest pin of the night in just 21 seconds.  Dylan Badge battled at 150 pounds and came away with a hard fought 4-1 win.  Cliff Jones lost his match by injury default at 157 pounds.  Owen Wright dropped his match at 165 pounds.  Bryce Randolph picked up a first period pin at 175 pounds.  Freshman Royce Martinez picked up a varsity match at 190 pounds, but was unable to get the win.  Wyatt Hicks dropped his match at 215 pounds, before Hamza Rafferty earned a pin in 54 seconds at heavyweight.  Hudson Miller dropped his match at 106 pounds.  Zach Taylor was able to finish the night off with a pin at 113 pounds.  The final score Clinton 50 Perry 27.  

Our JV/Varsity B team wrestled in a dual against Laingsburg's B team and came away with a 39-18 win.  Winning during that dual was Jake Halchishak at 132 by forfeit.  Raven Aldridge collected the pin at 150 pounds.  Brody Wenn won 9-2 at 157 pounds.  Shane Cook won by forfeit at 165 pounds.  Jayden Duplessis picked up the pin at 175 pounds.  Chance Maddox and Drew McNatt both picked up forfeit wins.  Others competing in the dual that fell short were Keegan Keith and Lucas Coughlin.  In another match on the night Shane Cook picked up a pin at 165 pounds against Perry.  We also had two girls matches as Faith Blackburn earned a pin aginst Perry HS and Annabell Howard earned a pin of her own in the first period against Perry.  Overall it was a good night and the team came away with two wins.  We are looking forward to traveling to Traverse City, Dansville, and Fowlerville with our three teams this weekend.
