HILLSDALE HIGH SCHOOL: 14
Brayden Randolph scored with just over four minutes left on the clock, and secured a fourth-down tackle with just over a minute remaining to help the Clinton Varsity football team secure a 21-14 road LCAA victory Friday night.
Hillsdale opened the scoring with a long touchdown run on its very first play from scrimmage, but Clinton answered with a Derek Tomalak touchdown pass to Kaden Settles later in the quarter. Hillsdale converted a Clinton turnover into points, but Davey Campbell answered with a 61-yard touchdown run to knot the game at 14 apiece.
The defenses held firm for most of the second half, until Brenden Keith recovered a fumbled punt return that the offense turned into the game-winning scoring drive.
Campbell paced the offense with 88 rushing yards, followed by Randolph with 51. Bradyn Lehman led defensively with 14 tackles, while Randolph added 12. Will Felts anchored a defensive line that held Hillsdale to just over 200 total yards. Campbell and Ridge Ahrens each added interceptions for the defense, and Jonathan Baughey was 3-for-3 on extra points on the night.
Clinton will host Detroit Voyageur College Prep Academy in the opening round of the playoffs at Wegner Field Friday night.
