Varsity Football Defeats Blissfield

BLISSFIELD HIGH SCHOOL: 7

The varsity football team traveling to Blissfield on Friday, Sept. 23rd for an LCAA match up.  The Redwolves defeated the Royals 65-7.  The Redwolves racked up 384 yards rushing, 15 yards passing, and a ton of return yards. Bradyn Lehman led all rushers with 110 yards on 5 carries and two touchdowns.  Zak Shadley picked up 104 yards rushing and a touchdown with 8 carries.  Jake Felts had 56 yards on seven carries with a touchdown.  Andy Fair had 30 yards on 3 carries, Cole Breitenwischer had 29 yards on seven carries and two touchdowns, Nik Shadley had 18 yards on three carries, along with a kickoff return for 93 yards for a touchdown, a punt return for a touchdown, and another long return of over 50 yards.  Clinton racked up over 500 yards of offense with the return yards.  Connor Younts had 16 yards on 3 carries, Joey Preston had 12 yards on five carries, and Braylon Long had 8 yards on one carry.  Coy Perry went 3-4 passing with a touchdown.  Brandon Johnson caught two passes for 9 yards and Max Still caught a pass for 6 yards.  Lehman went 3-4 with PAT kicks as well.  Our blocking continues to improve as many are finishing blocks with authority.  Pancake block on the night went to Mason Brodie and Jake Felts with five apiece, Brandon Felts had two, and Teddy Pizzio, Bradyn Lehman, and Max Stitt each had one.  

Defensively Clinton only allowed 56 yards rushing (almost all on one play) and 42 yards passing for under 100 yards of total offense from Blissfield on the night.  Coy Perry picked up an interception on the night and Nik Shadley and Brandon Felts picked up a pass break up a piece.  Sacks were credited to Wyatt Hicks and another for the defensive line of Joey Preston, Brandon Felts, Max Stitt, Nate Smith, and Teddy Pizzio.  There were a ton of tackles for loss of yardage, starting with Joey Preston, Teddy Pizzio, Jake Felts, and Bradyn Lehman all with two apiece.  Picking up one tackle for a loss on the night was Jake Gilson, Connor Younts, Mason Brody, and Brandon Felts.  Offensive Player of the Game was Mason Brodie, Defensive Player of the Game was Coy Perry, Special Teams Player of the Game was Nik Shadley, and Red Army Player of the Week was Maurice Ames.  

This week we travel to Dundee to take on the Division 5 Vikings who are 5-0 on the year.  Former Coach Jeremy Fielder is the defensive coordinator now at Dundee and this should be a formidable challenge for the Redwolves.
